Sooo… Coachella is TODAY! In fact, by the time this post goes live I will probably be at my camping spot! I am beyond excited for a weekend of sunshine, good music & of course… festival fashion. I’m trying my best to plan my outfits ahead of time.. I say this every year and basically fail miserably, but I think I kind of have an idea of what I want to wear for most of the days, and almost all of my outfits involve these boots. I’ve been needing a new pair of black ankle boots and I’m glad I held out, because they are literally perfect. I mean, I’m really in shoe-love here you guys. Comfortable, versatile, and badass.. yes, please. And the cut outs!? *Sigh*. Also, I will be wearing this tee at Coachella with high hopes that The Rolling Stones will surprise us all and play and then  I can die happy.

Guess what? You could have a pair of the Everlys, too! Or any other shoe you want at Ashbury Skies! That’s right.. they’re giving away a pair to one of my beautiful readers. Launched in 2011 in San Francisco, Ashbury Skies has an amazing selection of independent designers such as Dolce Vita, Jeffrey Campbell, Miista, and more!

you guys.. this could very well be the first time i’ve EVER worn jeans on LA Inspiration. ever. in over 3 years. this is because i quit wearing jeans for awhile. i guess it was kinda by accident, i just wear/wore skirts & dresses 90% of the time. but winter in LA has actually been kinda cold (in, like, the 30s and 40s at night) and so on a whim i threw these on a few weeks ago to stay warm, and i kinda haven’t taken them off since. or this tee. or these shoes.

anyway, that’s the real point of this post: these shoes! it’s also been awhile since i’ve worn flats but i loved kuna kicks as soon as i saw the funky ass colorful patterns (which are all one of a kind, btw!), and fell for them even more after i read that they are fair trade! i was a little nervous because usually i have to break flats in (which typically involves me getting really painful blisters on my achilles tendon and never wearing them again), however i am really happy to say that instead of causing me blisters, kuna kicks stretch a bit to make sure that doesn’t happen and after wearing them several times – still no blisters! it’s a miracle, really. they are perfect.

“Teysha is an Austin-based, fair trade company importing 100% handmade, unique goods from around the world. Their flagship product, Kuna Kicks, feature a completely unique mola fabric (native Panamanian pattern), a signature of the Kuna women who produced it, and a guarantee that the sale made has direct impact in her community, over 1800 miles away.

The co-founders, Sophie Eckrich and Travis Breihan, have created a bridge across cultures through conscious enterprise and beautiful, functional handmade goods that improve the quality of life for every individual involved in the trade.

The Austin born-and-bred couple has brought their inclusive, eco-conscious mindset to Panama and has developed business relationships that are beneficial to the local community, a rarity in Panamanian international business relations.”

Shelby Spalione

last week i shot singer shelby spalione in one of my favorite places.. venice! these are promo shots for her new music/website, and are probably some of my best photos to date (thanks to an early xmas present from the bf.. a new camera!). i had a lot of pent up creativity and had been dying to get out and take photos, so i was feeling particularly inspired. the weather was perfect and shelby was wonderful to work with. i can’t wait to shoot more.. and to hear shelby’s music! i’ll be sure to keep you all posted on that!

Our mission is to support and preserve fair trade wages and artisan cooperatives, while designing apparel from organic and natural fibers. We hope you will join us in spreading the beauty of artisan made eco-friendly fashion.”

i’m so excited to be a part of the indigenous “worth wearing” campaign! fair trade fashion is something i believe in and support, so i’m more than happy to help spread the word about indigenous. it really feels great to know where your clothes come from, and to be able to support fair trade wages and artisans. indigenous’ collection of beautiful sweaters, warm scarves, and super cozy ponchos should be in everyone’s closet. seriously.

i got this amazing poncho in the mail on friday and i’ve literally been wearing it ever since. except to sleep in, because it’s way too nice for that. it’s made of 100% organic cotton and is probably the softest piece of clothing i own. the timing was perfect because it’s been cold and rainy for days now and this is keeping me nice and warm. i’m totally obsessed with the draping on the sides and in the back, and the front pocket. it’s going to be really difficult to wear anything else but this the next few months.. with these boots of course.

Ashley Marie Art

a few months back, thanks to the ol’ world wide web, i came across an amazing artist from detroit, mi: ashley marie. ashley’s prints are beautiful, ethereal, and slightly haunting. her incredible charcoal drawings of otherworldly women are awe-inspiring. i’ve been following her on instagram for quite some time, and it’s really amazing to see her work in progress, and even more amazing to see the final outcome. my favorite is Riviére, the “moon-eyed spirit”.
