Beach Camping

a few weeks ago my amazing friend lisa came to visit for the week. it was her first time visiting california, so of course i wanted to make sure she got to see the best of it. we both love camping so we decided to do beach camping.. something i’d never done before so i was super excited! i found thornhill broome when i was doing some research and saw that it had really great reviews on yelp!, so we decided that would be our place. it’s about an hour outside of hollywood, and once you’re off the freeway, it’s a beautiful drive through mountains and up the PCH.

once we got to the beach i was in awe.. it is seriously one of the most beautiful places i’ve ever seen. it was so serene. looking to your left and right, the road curves around the mountain so it seems like all that exists is the ocean in front of you, and the mountains behind you. it was gorgeous. we spent the evening playing uno, talking by the fire, and listening to music. when the sun went down the sky was so incredibly clear and i saw more stars than i have in my entire life. it was mesmerizing. i felt like i was just staring at the stars for hours. the next morning after we packed up, we stopped at another camping/hiking spot nearby, sycamore canyon (thornhill broome and sycamore canyon are both part of point mugu state park), and explored there and hiked a bit. that’s where we found that massive, beautiful tree lisa is sitting in!

it was a really amazing, beautiful, and memorable trip! that’s one of the things i love the most about living in california.. i can wake up in crazy ol’ hollywood, but within an hour i can be somewhere that feels like ┬ámy own private island. if you’re in the LA area i definitely recommend camping here before it gets too cold! beach camping at thornhill broome was by far my favorite part of summer. what’s yours?

Hi, I found your blog through Black Girl with Long Hair. The first time I ever heard of camping on the beach was from watching an old 70′s tv thriller called Terror on the Beach.

I would never think to do something like this, but it seems like a lot of fun. I love the beach, why not spend the night on it.

Looks like HEAVEN! I am not usually a huge fan of the beach, but I seriously think I could fall in love with the idea of beach camping. :)
